What is the difference between extrait, parfum, eau de parfum and eau de toilette?Updated 2 years ago

Each term relates to the concentration of fragrance oils in the product and subsequently, its staying power. Here's how it works: 1. Extrait de Parfum or Perfume Extract: This is the most potent form as it houses the highest concentration of fragrance oils. This typically translates to a scent that sticks around the longest. 2. Parfum or Perfume: It's the next in line with a slightly lower concentration of oils compared to the Extract. Though less concentrated, it still has great staying power. 3. Eau de Parfum: Eau de Parfum has a lower concentration of fragrance oils compared to Extrait and Parfum. However, it's a fan favourite due to its reasonable longevity and relatively affordable price. 4. Eau de Toilette: This formulation contains the least perfume oil concentration. It provides a light and refreshing scent that's great for casual or everyday wear, although it may not last as long as the others. In a nutshell, the higher the fragrance oil concentration, the longer you can expect the scent to last!
